Surveys show that 99% of all Kindergarteners have an interest in reading a book outside of school compared to only 54% of 4th Graders. What changed in 4th grade? Parents stopped reading to their kids.

Please read to your children and don't stop just because they know how to read on their own. Remember that a child's brain is developing just as much as the child's body. You wouldn't dress your 4-year old child in 9-month clothes. You wouldn't let your 5-year old chew on a teethig ring. The same logic applies for books. When your child wants to buy a book, please don't say "You already have so many books." Instead say, "Let's see if it's at the library!"
